merchant account enables your website to accept credit card orders in real
time. Customers enter credit card information on your website and once payment
is processed, funds are deposited in your account automatically.
To get a merchant account your credit must be approved and
you have to pay a setup fee which is usually about $200, a monthly fee
of around $40, a per-transaction-fixed fee usually about $.20, and per-transaction-percentage
fees of around 2.5%.
Some advise that you must absolutely have a merchant account
to successfully operate an online business. They suggest that any business
without a merchant account is seriously lacking credibility.
Well that argument may be the absolute truth for you if you
are a high volume trader and credibility is important to you business.
Otherwise a Third
party credit card processor may be cheaper and sufficient for your
